Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial stage of development in the formation of self-identity, but during this phase, adolescents often face an identity crisis that can affect various dimensions of life. This study aims to analyze the influence of adolescent identity crises on the self-understanding of high school students. A qualitative approach was used, employing literature review and in-depth interviews with high school students to gain an understanding of the factors causing identity crises and their implications for emotional, social, academic, and self-understanding aspects. The results of the study reveal that identity crises are triggered by internal factors, such as emotional instability and the urge for self-exploration, as well as external factors, including family pressure, academic demands, the influence of the social environment, and social media. Identity crises cause anxiety, decreased self-confidence, obstacles in social relationships, and reduced concentration in learning. However, identity crisis also functions as a reflective process that encourages students to recognize their potential, strengths, and limitations, thereby gradually improving self-understanding. Therefore, the role of family, school, and guidance and counseling services is very important in helping students manage identity crisis in a positive and constructive manner.
